Typical Foods

E-mail Print PDF

altCosta Rica has much to offer in the variety of foods available. Typical local lunch and dinners include gallo pinto (seasoned rice and beans), salad or cole slaw, and choice of beef, pork, chicken, or fish. The meats from local farms are some of the best found anywhere in the world.

Costa Rica also has a great assortment of fresh caught fish and seafood especially here along the coast. Catch of the day varies throughout the seasons, but typically you will find snapper, tuna, dorado (mahi mahi), sea bass scallops and lobster. It's all here.

While the commercial fishery brings in some of the finest seafood from local waters, the Potrero area is known for it's incredible sportfishing. So why not go out and catch your own, while you're here.

The choices don't stop there...how would you like that cooked? The influences of those from around the world who have made Costa Rica their home can be found on the menus of many local restaurants.

Restaurants specializing in French, Italian, Chinese, and typical North American eateries have sprouted up all over the country. Fresh baked German breads and pastries can be found in many local restaurants and stores.

Once again Potrero has it all. Check out some of the choices.
